Marcus Barnett & Philip Nixon: The Savills Garden

The Inspiration for this garden is taken from the Modernist architecture of Mies van der Rohe and in particular the Farnsworth House, which was completed in 1951 in the countryside outside Chicago. The Savills Garden is private and enclosed and the entrance is framed by trees which lead onto a pathway.

The path meanders through trees and perennial planting and over water before arriving at a Modernist style building at the rear of the garden, designed as a place of refuge or entertainment.
