Berkshire Lodge

In place of an awkward sloping lawn, a series of sculptural grass terraces envelop a new flat lawn, opening the garden to the rhododendron filled woods beyond. A generous terrace surrounded by lush perennial planting, punctuated by multi-stemmed trees, provides areas for dining and lounging.

Beech hedging along the boundaries provide both privacy and, through sensitively placed openings, glimpses of the wildflower meadows beyond. In turn the openings provoke curiosity, encouraging further journeys through the garden to the more intimate seating areas or to the discovery of sculptures.
